CROSS-CULTURAL JOURNALISM
NONPROFIT & MINISTRY PUBLIC RELATIONS
Campaigns
As a PR student, I worked with various companies to promote events, propose social media and digital strategies, plan program launches and advise crisis response plans. I also gained experience in brand advocacy, brand management, digital strategy, event planning, RPIE and leadership in PR.
Cultural Exploration
Through interviews, trips abroad, food and research, I have had the chance to dive into places like Peru, India, and Thailand. Classes like International Journalism, Foundations of Global Studies and Media Narrative Project strengthened my cultural repertoire, enhancing skills like building rapport with subjects, navigating language barriers and employing cultural humility.
Internships
Throughout my time at Biola, I interned with a wedding planning company based in Newport Beach and an NPO that emphasizes community development in immigrant cities in Fullerton. Each of these internship opportunities has taught me how to better communicate with key stakeholders, tell meaningful stories about a variety of communities, strategically plan events and manage social media.
Multimedia
Throughout college, I have designed several infographics, media kits, an app and a website, and flyers for various organizations. Classes such as Convergent Production and Media Narrative Project allowed me to build my visual media skillsets in visual storytelling and photography.
Publications
As a journalism major, I have written several news articles, opinion pieces and feature-length stories in my time at Biola. Through each of these stories, I gained AP style copywriting and editing skills, research and interview competencies and immense cultural knowledge of other people and places.
Research & Analysis
For various development and reporting projects, I conducted research and analysis case studies. Each of these projects will take you to a different place on the map. For example, my tracking analysis research paper will bring you to a refugee camp in Nauru and allow you to look through various case studies about the high-suicide rate of immigrants.
Youth Development & Community Outreach
My aim, through Solidarity Teen Center and Compass on Campus, is to take part in the hard work of community development by reaching the youth, helping break the cycle of education inequity and fight misplaced identity. Read more about how I’m taking part in equipping the youth for community transformation.
